My Sacred Flame
First and foremost, welcome and thank you for all of your support!
I am Jasmine Brisco, born and raised in Chicago, IL. And I am the Mother of Sacred Flame Candle Company. I know you’re probably thinking, why is she referring to herself as mother of the company, rather than the owner? Right?
Well, here’s my story.
I am a mother of two bright little flames or children as many would say! My interest in candle making started during my second pregnancy. Being high risk and chasing a toddler around was not the easiest! So, I was a homebody and a stay at home mom. I spent most of my time with reading, cooking, and doing crafts with my toddler son. During the night hours I would read and watch videos about candle making. Soon enough I became hooked on the entire chemistry of a candle.
I was very sensitive to fragrance during my pregnancy. So I decided to wait until after I gave birth to start making candles. In 2010, I gave birth to a beautiful little princess flame. My thoughts were immediately drawn to fragrance. Bringing new life into our home was so exciting. And I wanted our home to smell new as well. When I got home, I ordered my first candle making kit!
Starting was very fun. The joy of blending fragrances to make a new one felt like bringing new life into the world. That is when I knew, this was the missing piece to my puzzled home bound lifestyle. Being a new mother again, my new hobby was just that, a hobby.
When I decided to share my new love for candle making, I received an unexpected response. Although not mentioned earlier in my bio, this was a time when I was in a very abusive relationship. My spouse expressed that, my love for candle making was worthless. Hearing those words tore me apart. A short time after that, my aunt(best friend) passed away. My world crashed. And as a result, I stopped making candles.
Moving forward and away from my abuser while mourning was so difficult. A little flame would spark when I thought of making candles. I thought of my aunt. “Do what makes you happy Jasmine!” That’s what my aunt would say. Thinking of my children and expressing myself with candles made me happy.
Throughout the years, candle making remained very sacred. It was like a flame growing inside of me! And that’s when I gave birth to my company!!
